Major International Carriers
Two international airlines service the Cook Islands: Air New Zealand is the main carrier, with daily services arriving and departing from Rarotonga International Airport from Auckland, Fiji, Tahiti, and onward services to Los Angeles.
Pacific Blue also has a weekly service from Christchurch, New Zealand with return connections to Melbourne, Australia.
Island-hopping
The Cook Islands has its own domestic airline, Air Rarotonga, which has regular scheduled flights to all but four of the islands in the Cook group. Aitutaki is their main southern-group destination with four daily flights except on Sundays. Air Rarotonga operate the 34 seat SAAB 340 and 18 seat Banderante jetliner aircraft.
Flying time to all of the southern-group islands is just 40 minutes on average, and to the northern group islands it is approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes.
