If you happen to be in Rarotonga this coming weekend then you’re in for a treat! Following on from the huge success of last year’s event, Le Bon Vivant Café which is situated just a stone’s throw away from Pacific Resort Rarotonga will be hosting their third annual Okotopafest Matutu Beer Festival with 5 craft beers from Matutu Brewery and some divine festival food prepared by LBV. Throw into the mix some amazing live music and you have all the makings of the perfect Saturday afternoon.
Celebrating everything great about Rarotonga
As well as being an opportunity to sample some deliciously tasty local Matutu beers, there will also be some fantastic market fresh food available all prepared by LBV and Prime Foods in a celebration of all things local. We have some fantastic local produce here on Rarotonga and we are very proud of our local producers and businesses who support our local producers. LBV is a popular place for guests at Pacific Resort with many popping across for mid-morning coffees and treats.
About Matutu Beer
Matutu Beer is THE beer of the Cook Islands produced right here in Vaka Takitumu on the island of Rarotonga. You will find it in most bars and restaurants throughout the island including our own Barefoot Bar. They typically have two beers available: Mai which is an authentic lager brewed with German Pilsner malt and Kiva which is a pale ale with touches of crystal and chocolate malts. For the festival, Matutu will be bringing along three additional beers which have been specifically brewed for Okotopafest so this is a great chance for beer lovers to try something a bit different.
As well as the fantastic food and tasty brews, there will also be some great live music from a number of local bands including Trigger Fish, Island Groove, Rudi Aquino, Rockin Jandals and Vinyl Revival Club. The weather in Rarotonga has been warm and sunny of late which should provide the perfect excuse to sit out in the sun and enjoy the beer, food and live music.
Keep up to date
Le Bon Vivant have an active Facebook page where they have been posting regular updates about Okotopafest so make sure you give them a follow to get all the latest news. Entry to Okotopafest is just $5 and it promises to be another cracking day. Join the fun!
