1. Te Vara Nui
Te Vara Nui is Rarotonga’s leading cultural experience and is situated just 2 minutes walk from Pacific Resort Rarotonga. The award-winning show boasts the island’s finest dancers and musicians, with their star performance, ‘The Legend of Tongaiti’ by torchlight – a must-see. Find out more.
2. SUP (Paddleboarding)
Stand up paddleboarding is the world’s fastest growing sport and Muri Lagoon is the perfect place to give it a go. You can hire a paddleboard from the Beach Hut at Pacific Resort Rarotonga or enlist lessons from various providers along the beach, but you should definitely give it a whirl on your next visit.
3. Captain Tama Glass bottom boat tour
If you are keen to get a closer view of the marine life that calls Muri lagoon its home, a glass bottom boat trip could be just the ticket. One of the most popular excursions is Captain Tama’s famous Muri Lagoon tours. You’re guaranteed a great time on board with your local hosts, fascinating island tutorials, such as coconut tree climbing, as well as the chance to snorkel with some awe-inspiring marine life. 5. Coconut Tours Jungle Quad Adventure
Whilst this tour takes you away from Muri Beach, the Coconut Tours Jungle Quad Adventure is a great way to spend a few hours exploring the rest of the island. Their main office is situated in Muri Beach and from here they will take you on a journey of discovery, 90% of which is off-road. 6. Barefoot Bar Sundowner Cocktails
For those who enjoy the more laid back approach or perhaps for those who have been out adventuring all day, there is no better place to enjoy a sundowner cocktail than at our very own Barefoot Bar. 7. Kite surfing
Kite surfing is one of the world’s most exciting sports and there’s no place better to master the art than in Muri lagoon. Just a two minute walk down the beach from Pacific Resort you’ll find KiteSUP – where they run a number of paddleboarding and kite surfing sessions, including a 2 hour beginner’s session to get a taste for the sport. One of the most popular ways of exploring the Muri lagoon is to take a kayak and paddle around. Guests at Pacific Resort have complimentary access to our kayaks. 9. Night market
What started out as a Thursday night market to cater for tourists staying in the Muri area, has now expanded to include Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. The night market has a selection of delicious local food stalls, including meals such as Cajun chicken, tuna with pawpaw dressing, local fish curry, chicken carbonara and a selection of dishes with a topping of our famous Rarotongan mushroom sauce!
10. Eat out in Muri
Whilst many guests choose to eat all their meals at Pacific Resort, we do encourage guests to get out and try some of the local cuisine at nearby restaurant. Whether it’s a popping out for lunch or dinner, from Thai and Mexican cuisine to the famous Villi’s burgers, there’s plenty of choice to suit everyone within a short walk.
