The DANII Foundation, supporting Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), was established in 2012 by parents Donna and Brian Meads-Barlow as a legacy to their 17 year old daughter Daniella, following her sudden passing in 2011 as a result of a night time hypoglycaemic episode – a diabetes complication more widely known as “Dead in Bed” syndrome.
On learning that there was technology available that could have prevented Danii’s death, her parents then made it their mission to assist todays Australians living with T1D’s by making the costly life-saving technology available for more people affected by T1D.
Recently, the DANII Foundation hosted its annual Jelly Bean Ball. It was held on Saturday 17th June 2017, at the Hyatt Regency in Sydney, Australia. With the help of its sponsors and support of various donators, the DANII Foundation successfully raised over AU$280,000.
Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel, a Pacific Resort Hotel Group partner property, was proudly a sponsor for this year’s event, offering a “Cook Islands Beach Getaway Package”, including return flights from Sydney with Air New Zealand, 6 nights’ accommodation in a Deluxe Beachfront Studio, return airport transfers and a tropical breakfast daily.
The Moana Sands “Cook Islands Beach Getaway Package” was auctioned off as a part of a live auction on the evening. The successful bidder, Mr. Paul Down, is sure to enjoy a relaxing holiday and warm welcome from the Moana Sands Team!
The DANII Foundation commented on the Moana Sands Group contribution saying “This Cook Island prize proved so popular in auction bidding; the return to the foundation means one person living with the disease will have access to specially designed technology for one year, which can be lifesaving!”.
Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel and Pacific Resort Hotel Group are proud to support the DANII Foundation and their mission to make costly life-saving technology a reality for people with T1D.
