Is there anything better than a refreshing tropical cocktail in a cool little bar with a view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean? Doesn’t it sound like a tropical dream? In Rarotonga dreams are the reality and to prove the point we’ve put together a list of the 5 best cocktail spots for you to experience and enjoy!
The Waterline Restaurant & Beach Bar
The light of a sailor’s lantern, old fashioned South Sea charm, the scent of fresh sea spray. These are the traits that best describe the ambiance of the Waterline Restaurant & Beach Bar. Situated on the west coast of the island, the Beach Bar is a popular spot at twilight where the sunset is praised universally as stunning. There’s a great rustic feel to the bar with down-to-earth staff and some nice menu options too. The Midori Mango Margarita is beautifully refreshing but if you’re looking to kick the night off with a bang go no further than the Beach Bar Beasty!
21.3 Vaiana’s Bar & Bistro
21.3 Vaiana’s is the place to go for a fun lively atmosphere. When the sun goes down, the fairy lights take effect, often with live music or a DJ to sing and dance along to. It’s literally a stone’s throw away from the airport which is great because you can go from tarmac to tequila with barely any transition at all. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, keep an eye out for happy hour and their 1L cocktail pitchers with specialties like the Vaiana Shaker!
Shipwreck Hut Beach Bar at the Aro’a Beachside Inn
First of all, the ‘Shipwreck Hut Beach Bar’ is a great name for a bar and is just the start of a lot of things they do very well. The home-made bar food, a Saturday night BBQ, live music 3 nights a week represent another 3 big ticks. The cocktails in jam jars are another nifty twist to match their exotic drinks like the famous Guava Colada! A great little cosy place for those seeking comfort casual.
Little Polynesian Resort Restaurant & Bar
For a truly romantic experience, the Little Polynesian’s Restaurant & Bar is the place to go. With an open air setting and views across the Titikaveka lagoon your special someone will feel like you’ve treated them to paradise. It’s very easy to turn a cocktail or two into a fine dining experience with white linen, bubbles and candles etc, but since we’re talking about cocktails we can safely say you won’t be disappointed by the selections with one of the most extensive lists on the island. If you’re wanting to create memories, you’ll do so easily here.
Barefoot Bar at Pacific Resort Rarotonga
And last but not least we’d be doing a disservice if we didn’t mention our very own Barefoot Bar at the Pacific Resort Rarotonga. We’re proud to have a glorious beachside spot for our bar (hence the name) offering a fantastic array of local and imported beverages, daily cocktail specials, and of course the all important happy hours. The Pina Colada is a popular guest favourite, but we think all our cocktails stack up pretty well and our friendly bar staff will be able to find something to match your taste and style (extremely important when choosing the right cocktail) every time. A place to sit back, relax, and let the island take care of the rest.
So, if you’re looking for a great cocktail venue when you’re in Rarotonga, look no further than our top five tips above and let us know what you think!
