After a hugely successful event last year, the Prime Foods Night Market will be returning to the Punanga Nui Market on Friday 16 June from 5.00-9.00pm. Admission is free to all attendees. Prime Foods is one of the island’s leading supermarkets and suppliers of the freshest food, from seafood to meat to delicious vegetables. Prime Foods source their produce from some of the best suppliers, using both locals and international partners. In 2016, Prime Foods’ New Zealand kiwifruit provider Zespri was also present at the market, showcasing the delicious gold kiwis. Bidvest, one of New Zealand’s largest wholesale distributors, were also present and they are both signed back up for 2017, helping the event to go from strength to strength.
Prime Foods are also excited to have Hellers Sausages on board for 2017. The New Zealand butcher is famous for producing some speciality sausages alongside traditional pork and beef. Some of their most popular flavours include Angus Beef and Caramelised Onion, Spicy Pork Bratwurst and Chicken and Tarragon. They will be offering free samplings at the night market and you should have no problems sniffing them out!
A night market with a difference
Rarotonga has some pretty awesome markets and it should definitely be on your list of things to do whilst you’re on the island. There is a regular Saturday morning market at the Punanga Nui market in the main town of Avarua, which is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Just a short walk from Pacific Resort Rarotonga, you can also head to the Muri Night Market every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5.00pm to 9.00pm. With live music, free entertainment and tasty fresh food, this is another great market to head along to.
The Prime Foods Night Market is a little different. Held just once a year, the market takes over at the Punanga Nui market for the night. Running from 5.00pm to 9.00pm, you can expect some fantastic live entertainment including music and performers. There will also be lots of free giveaways and plenty of things for the kids too.
Family friendly, fun market
The focus is very much on family fun. Last year’s event was a huge success with locals and tourists, enjoying a fantastic atmosphere as well as getting to sample some amazing local and international produce. Every year the event gets bigger and better, with more suppliers, more activities and more giveaways. This year is expected to be the biggest Prime Foods Night Market to date, so make a note of the date in your diary and make sure you head into town for what promises to be a fun night.
