What’s new at Pacific Resort?

Posted on June 8, 2017

There’s always so much going on here at Pacific Resort Hotel Group (PRHG). Whether it is upgrades to the rooms or welcoming a new property to the PRHG Family, we are always looking to the future. 2017 has been a busy one so far. We recently announced the start of a new development for Moana Sands. The brand new resort in Muri Beach, Moana Sands Lagoon Resort, will be the third property in the Moana Sands portfolio, joining Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel and Moana Sands Beachfront Villas. Whilst this may be one of the bigger projects underway, there has been a lot going on across all our properties – check out the latest updates below:

Pacific Resort Rarotonga

Our main resort here on Rarotonga, Pacific Resort Rarotonga has undertaken some smaller renovation projects in 2017 after the complete remodel of the swimming pool area in 2016. There has been an upgrade to Room Three, bringing it in line with the rest of the rooms at the property. The Garden Block has also had a recent upgrade, ensuring that no matter where you stay in the resort, you will get the same luxurious experience.

We are pleased to announce the opening of our ‘POOL BAR’ located poolside at Pacific Resort Rarotonga. In order to enhance guest experience, the POOL BAR will be open for the next three months for in-house guests to enjoy a unique menu of poolside cocktails and beverages, with a convenient room charge back.

Pacific Resort Aitutaki

Our sister resort over in Aitutaki, Pacific Resort Aitutaki has also undertaken some renovation work this year to bring all aspects of the property up to the five star standards expected of a boutique luxury hotel. This year we have been focussing on our staff, building new staff units which are almost complete, providing expatriate staff with comfortable accommodations nearby the resort.

Additional updates include installing new boilers in the kitchen and beach bar, expected to run more efficiently and are exceedingly more environmentally friendly.

Finally, we also have a small project running with a local school whereby two local children will come to the resort to teach guests how to make flower ei’s for Island Night. This is a great opportunity for local school children to meet people from around the world, as well as providing our guests with the chance to talk with local children and learn a new skill.

Te Manava Luxury Villas & Spa

It has been a relatively quiet start to the year at Te Manava Luxury Villas & Spa, located here on Rarotonga. We have recently welcomed our new Villa Managers, Wayne and Helen, to our PRHG team. The feedback has been extremely positive so far and we aim to continue this momentum.

Little Polynesian

Little Polynesian has been a hive of activity this year with re-roofing currently in progress. We are also in the process of removing the spa baths from the bungalows in our efforts to maintain the luxury standards of the resort.

A nightly turn down service has also started at Little Polynesian in 2017, the service includes a room refresh, the bed linen is turned down, blinds drawn & lights dimed ready for sleeping. Just a little touch that has gone a long way with our guests.

Moana Sands Group

As already mentioned, it has been a busy time at Moana Sands with the announcement of a new resort coming to the Muri Lagoon area. We are excited about this new addition to the group, coming as a direct result of tourism growth and the demand for quality mid-range accommodation in the Cook Islands. The addition of Moana Sands Lagoon Resort has created the Moana Sands Group, in which all three properties will provide travellers with an even larger range of accommodation options including suites, studios, villas and apartments.

A busy first half of the year across all our properties and more changes to come as we move through 2017. The best way to see all these changes of course is to come and experience them for yourself. As we enter June, July and August, there is no better time to visit the Cook Islands, especially for people travelling from New Zealand or Australia. Warm sunny days await, so escape the winter blues with a trip to the Cook Islands. We can’t wait to see you.
