Pacific Resort Hotel Group (PRHG) are strong supporters of gender equality, female empowerment, and the recognition and contributions of all women and girls around the world.
International Women’s Day was originally founded in 1909 with the clear goal of promoting peace and women’s rights. This celebration has since expanded to include a focus on equality for all genders, as shown in the theme for 2023, Embrace Equality.
This month our island nation commemorates and honours te iti vaine o te Kuki Airani (Women of the Cook Islands). Cook Islands women have played a large part in shaping the country. Equipping themselves through education and courageous acts to ensure their voices are heard, and leading the way in topics such as climate change, mitigation, and response to building a more sustainable future. Organisations such as Cook Islands Business and Professional Women’s Association are champions for this cause. They continue to uplift inspiring women across many of the island’s industries, offering community support through improvements, developments, and workshops. This is a time to celebrate the contributions of women throughout history, and the current generation of women and girls who continue to shape a brighter future.
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023, than by highlighting some of the amazing and inspiring women at PRHG, as they reflect on what International Women’s Day means to them.
