Posted on 07/10/2024

Pacific Resort Hotel Group is deeply committed to supporting the communities we are proud to be a part of. This dedication is evident through a range of initiatives aimed at uplifting local people and preserving the environment of the Cook Islands. We are honoured to be involved in a range of meaningful projects, and we’re excited to share some of our most recent initiatives:

Hospitality Skills and Maori Competition Sponsorship at Local College

In March 2024, Pacific Resort Hotel Group sponsored the Maori Competition at Titikaveka College. The group also organised a practical cooking class for Level 1 Hospitality students, led by Chefs Arana Edwards and Kelera Ratu, focusing on essential skills such as safe food handling and knife techniques. This effort highlights Pacific Resort Hotel Group’s ongoing support for education and career development within the hospitality industry.

Cardio Combat Fundraiser for Youth

In April, Pacific Resort Hotel Group’s Cardio Combat event successfully raised funds for the Titikaveka CICC Youth Fundraiser.

Donations to Local Schools

By June, the group had donated 500 P2 grade masks and filing cabinets to Arorangi and Turangi Schools, showcasing their commitment to health and educational resources.

New Zealand Future Leaders Academy at Pacific Resort Rarotonga

July saw Pacific Resort Hotel Group hosting the New Zealand Future Leaders Academy at Pacific Resort Rarotonga. This leadership training session, which included a resort tour, featured participation from local staff members Nau and Manatea, further underlining Pacific Resort Hotel Group’s investment in local youth development.

Keeping our Community Safe

In August 2024, Pacific Resort Hotel Group donated a security hub to Mana Security. This donation reinforces our ongoing partnership with Mana Security and our commitment to enhancing safety in the Muri area for all to enjoy.

Beach Clean-Up and Charity Support

Annual initiatives by Pacific Resort Hotel Group include the World Ocean Day Beach Clean-Up, the Wear Blue campaign for Autism awareness, and ongoing support for the Cook Islands SPCA.

Elastic Island Adventures Book Donations

Pacific Resort Hotel Group’s partnership with author Karen McMillan has led to a wonderful initiative, donating Elastic Island Adventures: Rarotonga to eleven primary schools. This effort not only enhances literacy and creativity but also includes engaging school visits. During these visits, lively chapter readings and interactive sessions captivated students across Aitutaki and Rarotonga, fostering a love for reading and strengthening connections within the local community.

Infrastructure, Christmas Outreaches and Fire Brigade Assistance

The group also engages in vital community support activities, such as maintaining local infrastructure, providing Christmas gifts through the BSP Giving Tree, and assisting the Aitutaki Fire Brigade. These commitments to local charities and environmental initiatives, including stream clean-ups and support for the Miss Cook Islands Pageant, demonstrates our comprehensive approach to community involvement.

Through these various efforts, Pacific Resort Hotel Group continues to make a meaningful impact, supporting the well-being and development of the Cook Islands’ communities while preserving cultural heritage and nurturing future generations.
